**UPDATE ON THE FEB 2021 WINTER STORMS**
The winter storm in Texas has been absolutely devastating in a way that I nor anyone in my family has ever seen. Now through February 21st, all sales from my Bandcamp catalogue will go to Austin Street Center’s inclement weather fund, which is working to provide food and shelter for Dallas’ homeless population at an incomparably dangerous time for the city’s most vulnerable people.
In his debut recording as a composer, Brooklyn-based percussionist and sound artist Adam Holmes set out to create a program of enormous sound with maximum portability. The result is Compartments, a collection of trance-like percussion works featuring instruments which seldom get the spotlight – mini gongs, flower pots, and wood blocks – all illuminated by interactive live processing designed alongside Max Ardito.
Compartments is an artistic exercise in curiosity and vulnerability, with Holmes working through the sonic characteristics of these tiny percussion instruments on his own terms. The expanding and contracting sounds in Compartments unfold in at a meditative pace over perpetually active yet minimal structures.
